✸ Lioness ✸ Astrological Tincture

A lioness pads with velveteen grace over warm earth. Under the moonless sky, her eyes perceive everything that moves and lives and dances in the realm of night, of dream, of mystery. Her hunt is keen, her body warm for her cubs, her eyes glimmer gold with her surety and perception. 

Lioness is an astrologically infused and ceremonially crafted tincture, concocted at a precisely chosen astrological alignment in August of 2024. Double extracted in organic vodka and organic honey, this tincture is a sultry combination of rose, motherwort, blue lotus, cinnamon, and edible gold. These herbs and elements were all mindfully selected to correspond with the astrological chart used, and to uplift the gifts offered by the planetary activity occurring at the time of its creation. 

These herbs were ritually infused and blessed with song and prayer at the height of the New Moon in Leo on August 4th.  In this particular chart, the Sun and Moon are reinforced by a trine from loquacious Jupiter in Gemini, and a co-presence with glamorous and glowing Venus who is also in the sign of Leo.

The New Moon in Leo is a fascinating combination of energies. Leo is the sign ruled by the Sun, so with the Sun and Moon conjunct in Leo, both of our luminary planets are focused on Solar themes: identity, expression, visibility, eminence, warmth, growth, honesty, and vitality. What I find compelling about the New Moon in Leo is that New Moon’s are literally the darkest night of the month, meaning that while we have an emphasis on the Solar, the Illuminated, the Most Prominent, Royal, and Visible, it takes place in a landscape of deep darkness, introspection, interiority, emotionality and subtlety. It is the candor of the sun brought to the mystery of night. There is an inversion of sorts - but instead of seeing this as contradictory, I find it is supportive to bringing clarity and expression to those deep wells within us - those inner reservoirs of inspiration, dreams, emotions (and with mercury’s influence - ideas!). This tincture was made with the intent of harnessing this Leonine light in such a way that does not repress, deny or outshine our inner experience, vulnerabilities, or visions, but draws them lovingly, so that they can be rooted as well as radiant.

USING THE TINCTURE

The invitation with this tincture is to take in small amounts as a way to ritualize and fortify acts of expression: creative writing, performing, sharing a self-revealing conversation with a loved one, singing, before embodiment practices, as a dreamwork tool, etc. I recommend it for practices where there is some intentional bridging of the interior world with the outer world. For those that struggle with feeling emotionally secure enough to express themselves, this is crafted as an ally, offering the foundation of love and tenderness that enables outward expression and valor. While it is energizing, it is also intimate. It’s outward, but not shallow.

To imbibe, shake well and take 1-8 drops underneath the tongue. Savor the taste, and visualize / imagine your intention.
